Parkinsons Support
Here at Caring Heart and Hands ltd we take personal centred approach to care. Person – centred means we focus on someone’s needs as an individual and the fact their life is not defined by the condition. We will always help the service user focus on what they are able to do not what they are unable to do.
Parkinson’s affects people in many different ways. Not everyone with the condition experiences the same combination of symptoms, we understand that it is important to listen to the person with Parksinson’s and their family about how the condition affects them, after all they are the ones living with it. We know that taking medication at the right time is so crucial for people with Parksinson’s. Making sure the service user gets their medication on time, every time, will allow that person to stay as independent as possible.
Parkinson’s is neurological , Parkinson’s is progressive, Parkinson’s can fluctuate and Parkinson’s can affect anyone.
We understand that how Parksinson’s affects someone can change from day to day, even hour to hour., symptoms that may be present on one call may not be present on the next call. We know that a service user that has Parkinson’s could maybe carry out a certain activity or task one day and then may not be able to carry it out the next day. All staff are trained to treat the service user with dignity and respect at all times and encourage, help and praise when needed.
Parkinson’s Dementia
Parksinson’s dementia is a condition that some people can experience as their Parkinson’s progresses. It can effect thinking and memory and it can have a massive impact on different aspects of their life.
Some people with Parkinson’s Dementia can experience behavioural problems, such as sudden outburst of anger. Staff here are trained to deal with challenging behaviour and again we focus on the needs of the individual, and work very closely with other health care professionals.
